Lesson 9: Inward and Outward Curves (Objects, Position, and Perspective)

Instructors tell children:

  • Inward curves are lines that curve inward.
  • Outward curves are lines that curve outward.

Instructors show children examples of:

  • Inward curves, such as the inside of hats, bowls, or cups.
  • Outward curves, such as the outside of an apple, ball, or orange.

Instructors show children the lesson image (scenes A-G), and ask children to point to the following surfaces:

  • Horizontal, straight
  • Oblique, straight
  • Inward curve (2)
  • Outward curve (3)

Children complete the following drill work:

  1. Draw a ball on a horizontal surface.
  2. Draw a ball on an oblique surface.
  3. Draw a ball on an inwardly curved surface.
  4. Draw a ball on an outwardly curved surface.
  5. Draw a tree on an outwardly curved surface.
  6. Draw a tree on an inwardly curved surface.
  7. Draw a shanty on an outwardly curved surface.
  8. Draw a shanty on an inwardly curved surface.
